This panel focuses on writings about India, 1800s-present, that relate to urban ecologies, i.e., how these writers describe gardens and animals in the context of Indian cities, and what this suggests about the ideologies, aesthetics, or other motivations behind these depictions. Engagement with ecocriticism or animal studies is welcome. Northeast MLA Conference is April 30-May 3, 2015, in Toronto.
