Waste is created when we no longer value something. Barriers to prematurely discarding resources have steadily fallen, resulting in an accelerating consumerism. While much effort has gone into researching and implementing technological interventions to reduce waste and emissions, accelerating rates of consumption are undermining these efforts. How can we engage systems-based approaches to reduce excess consumption and waste making, to generate a more circulat economy? This conference invites participants to explore new approaches to reduce the speed, volume and impacts of 'waste-ready' global consumerism, and generate a more sustainable circular economy.
