The VIII International Conference in Discourse, Communication and the Enterprise will be held in Naples, 11- 13 June 2015 and will be hosted by the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. DICOEN aims to promote interaction and discussion among researchers interested in the relevance of discourse and communication to the world of business, and to expand research networks among scholars working in the area of discourse and communication in organisational settings.

Call for Papers:

Contributions are invited from scholars working in a variety of disciplines including: linguistics, discourse analysis, communication studies, organisation studies, management studies, sociology, anthropology, social psychology, economics, business economics, accountancy, marketing.

Topics are broadly defined as, but not limited to, the following:

Genres in corporate and institutional communication:

- Genre variation in intercultural communication
- Intertextuality, interdiscursivity and hybridisation in business genres
- Analytical instruments in genre theory

ICT and multimodality in business communication:

- Multi-modal technologies and corporate/institutional communication
- Rhetorical practices and language use in multimodal communication
- Communication through social networking sites

Corporate communication across languages and cultures:

- Multidisciplinarity and business communication research across cultures
- Ideology, bias and power in mixed-culture interactions
- Lingua franca communication: linguistic and discursive strategies
- Discursive strategies in multilingual and interpreter-mediated interactions
- Translation, re-writing and re-telling in the corporate world
- Health narratives and the biotech industry
- Food cultures in private and public enterprises
- Corporate image building and product promotion in the pharmaceutical industry
- Tourism and local/global issues in tourist promotion
- Labor issues, product promotion and corporate communication

CSR, sponsorship, advertising:

- The discourses of Corporate Social Responsibility
- Language and discourse in corporate sponsorship
- Organisational discourses and emerging corporate philosophies
- The discourses of advertising
- Textual analysis in financial and corporate governance reporting

Argumentation, rhetoric, meanings and narrative financial reporting for predictions in financial reporting:

- Persuasive approach in mandatory and voluntary disclosure
- Investigating bias in narrative financial disclosure
- Critical and normative perspectives on financial rhetoric
- Mining of financial texts to improve market price predictions
- The predictive value of indicators
- The language in international accounting standard setting process.

Corporate communication and news management:

- News management and the enterprise
- Discourses in the corporate newsroom
- Corporate communication to the media
- Corporate image building through the press

We invite abstracts of 300 words. Abstracts must include affiliation and email addresses of the author(s). Paper sessions will be 20 minute slots with 10 minutes for questions/discussion. Selected papers will be published in a book with a first-rate publisher.
