KEEPING HISTORY ABOVE WATER will tackle the problem of protecting the past by examining the threat from theoretical and practical positions, and from both local and global perspectives. Over four days, a slate of the most highly regarded preservation, architectural, engineering, oceanographic, and other specialists from across the United States and abroad, including Scotland and the Netherlands, will share knowledge, examine risk, and debate solutions with an emphasis on real world applications.
For anyone concerned with preserving historic coastal communities—from preservationists to architects, city planners to state legislators—Keeping History Above Water offers an opportunity to hear from leaders in the field, participate in workshops on practical solutions, tour threatened areas and structures in Newport and its environs, and simply connect over this area of shared concern.
