Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) created Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) in 2006 as part of its ongoing commitment to establishing Qatar as a knowledge-based economy.

The Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (SAH) Directorate of QNRF aims to foster original, competitively-selected research with priorities in the areas identified by Qatar National Research Strategy.

Qatar Foundation and QNRF would like to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the “Program Manager – Urban Planning” position.

The Program Manager for Urban Planning will manage and facilitate the implementation of QNRF research competitions and projects, and other research-related programs and operations in other areas of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Detailed Description

Programmatic Management

  • Spearhead the program development for the Grand Challenges program in “Sustainable Urbanization”
  • Work with the Director Technical, Social Sciences Arts and Humanities to establish policies, research priorities, and funding activities.
  • Develop administrative and grant budgets with the Director Technical, Social Sciences Arts and Humanities and monitor financial performance against budget.
  • Supervise Program Officers
  • Direct the request for proposal and proposal review processes,
  • Server as primary point of contact for applicants and funded researchers for policy issues, including clarifying program objectives and goals.
  • Oversee the management and troubleshooting of project issues.
  • Manage day-to-day operations within assigned disciplines, including supervision of staff.
  • Work closely with IT staff and consultants to ensure coordination of information system and web-based support for all programmatic activities.
The job requirements include:
  • A Ph.D. in one of the Social Sciences or Humanities fields, or a related discipline.
  • After the award of the Ph.D., at least six years of experience working on topics related to sustainable urbanization and urban planning.
  • A record of achievement in research or technical program management.
