NHH Norwegian School of Economics is pleased to announce vacancies within the following areas: (1) Accounting and Auditing, (2) Business and Management Science, (3) Economics, (4) Strategy and Management. Candidates admitted to the PhD Programme at NHH will receive the title of PhD Research Scholar.

NHH is a public, specialised university (founded in 1936) in Norway, which hosts around 3500 students.

Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law

The Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law comprises three research groups which cover the core areas of financial accounting (auditing), management accounting (management control) and economics, ethics and law (EEL). The EEL research group addresses topics in the intersection between law, ethics and economics. The specialisation provides training that enables the PhD Research Scholar to produce original research of high quality. The specialisation has a strong international focus, with opportunities to visit other top international universities and business schools. Specialised courses offered by other Nordic universities complement our in-house course sequence.

The PhD specialisation in Accounting, Auditing and Law ensures close interaction with the department’s faculty members and with research programmes such as Beyond Budgeting and the Norwegian Centre of Taxation.

The PhD Programme

The PhD Programme at NHH is a four-year fully-funded programme, which combines an intensive course component with active research and teaching/work experience, preparing the school’s graduates for competitive careers at national and international academic institutions and industry.

PhD Research Scholars receive their own office space within their department and enjoy a highly stimulating and rewarding research environment. The Research Scholars s receive feedback on their work through close interaction with their supervisor/s, and faculty during regular seminars.

PhD Research Scholars are required to combine their studies and research with 25% work as a teaching and/or research assistant during their employment period.

The annual salary for the PhD Research Scholar position is currently 430 200 NOK gross (equivalent to approximately € 46 400 or US dollar 52 500). This salary ensures a fair standard of living in Norway, and is subject to Norwegian taxes and benefits, including health care provision.

Start date in August 2016.
