The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from PhD candidates in the general area of signal processing for wireless communications. SnT is carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners.
The Centre is rapidly expanding its research activities and is seeking highly motivated PhD candidates who wish to pursue research in close cooperation with our partners. For further information you may check:

PhD Candidate in Cryptography and Information Security

  • Fixed Term Contract up to 3 years in total, pending satisfaction of progress milestones (CDD), on full time basis (40hrs/week).

Your Role

The successful candidates will join a strong and motivated research team lead by Prof. Peter Ryan in order to carry out research in order to pursue a PhD on the following topic:

  • Cryptography and Information Security

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Carrying out research in the predefined areas
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications
  • Participating in proposal drafting
  • Assisting in organization of relevant workshops

Your Profile

Qualification: The candidate should possess an MSc degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics.

Experience: The ideal candidate should have good analytical and problem solving skills and be familiar with the principles of modern cryptography.
He/she should ideally have background in some of the following areas:

  • Security reductions.
  • Analysis of cryptographic protocols.
  • Advanced encryption and cryptographic mechanisms (e.g., MPC, FHE, IBE, FE, Obfuscation …).
  • Bilinear maps.
  • Development skills are an advantage.

Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
