BJSP invites proposals for a Special Section to appear in 2018. Potential guest editors should submit proposals for a Special Section to our editorial office email@example.com by 31 July 2017. Members of the BJSP editorial board will review all submissions and select the best proposal as the Special Section for 2018.
Proposals for a Special Section should contain the following information:
Name(s), contact details, and brief CV(s) of guest editor(s)
Proposed title of Special Section
Brief description of aims and topics covered, and a rationale for relevance and interest in the topic among BJSP readership (up to 500 words)
Evidence and rationale that there will be sufficient interest in terms of submissions on the topic, including an indication of authors who may be willing to submit work on the issue (e.g., people who have contributed to relevant recent symposia or thematic volumes) (up to 300 words).
Once it is commissioned, the Special Section will be expected to have an open call for submissions (which will be advertised in the BJSP, through the journal website and relevant mailing lists), although editors are obviously free to encourage potential authors to submit a paper. All submissions are expected to go through a rigorous review process equivalent to normal BJSP peer review. Submissions authored by guest editors are permitted, but will be handled independently and required to pass the regular peer review procedure for BJSP. The Special Section will be allocated six to eight papers of the December issue of the journal.
