The Department of Zoology and Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University Patiala invites you to International Conference in Zoological Sciences and 11th ANeT (International Conference on Ants). The conference will be held during the period 26-28 October, 2017.
The host Institute, Punjabi University, was established in the year 1962 with the main objective of promoting the cause of Punjabi language, art and literature. It is located on the outskirts of Patiala, on Patiala-Rajpura road. Punjabi University comprises of 65 Teaching and Research Departments on its Campus, five Regional Centres, six Neighbourhood Campuses and 166 affiliated Colleges. The Department of Zoology and Environmental Sciences, one of the oldest department in the University, was established in June, 1968. The Department has been recognized by NAAC peer team as one of the best science departments of the University.
At an altitude of 250m (30.32 N 76.40 E) Patiala, the royal city of Punjab, is build around Qila Mubarak fort (the fortunate castle). The castle was constructed by chieftain 'Baba Ala Singh', who founded the royal dynasty of the Patiala State in 1763. The city is famous for its traditional Patiala Shahi turban (a type of head gear), Paranda (a tasselled tag for braiding hair), Patiala salwar (a type of female trousers), Jutti (a type of footwear) and the much-publicized Patiala peg (a measure of liquor). Nearby star attractions include Golden Temple Amritsar, historic city of Sri Anandpur Sahib and the modern capital of Punjab, the city of Chandigarh designed by Le Corbusier. The city of Patiala is well connected to other major cities of India via road, by train, and as well by air. The nearest airports are Mohali International Airport, Mohali (45kms) and Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi (260kms). The distance from New Delhi to Patiala is approximately 250 kms. By car, it takes roughly 3 hours 39 minutes to reach Patiala from New Delhi. By train, the travelling time between New Delhi & Patiala is roughly 5 hours and 3 minutes.
The climate of Patiala city is sub-tropical and weather in the month of October is pleasant, average temperature ranges from 20-30℃.
