To encourage international enrollment, we regularly participate in international events, where prospective students can meet with representatives who will answer their questions about academic programs, student life and specific requirements.

Required Credentials


A completed undergraduate application for admission. Both the Adelphi Application and the Common Application are accepted by Adelphi University for international freshman and transfer applicants. Please submit whichever application best suits your needs.

A nonrefundable application fee of $50. Applicants who apply online can pay this fee with a credit card or electronic check. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Adelphi University and drawn on a U.S. bank. (International money orders are not accepted.)


A personal statement or essay. You are encouraged to submit, in 500 words or less, a response to one of the provided questions or a topic of your choice. You may submit a report or paper you have written during the current school year if needed.


Academic records. Undergraduate applicants are required to submit official secondary school/university records directly to Adelphi University. One set of records should be in your native language and one set translated into English. The submission and translation of all required documents and fees are entirely the responsibility of the applicant. Photocopies are not acceptable without an official school stamp or seal.

Undergraduate transfer applicants must submit all official transcripts and course descriptions for all institutions of higher education attended.



  • If submitting SAT: Scores can be submitted via your official high school transcript, or directly from the appropriate educational testing service. For students intending to enroll in General Studies or the Learning Resource Program, SAT scores are highly suggested.
    • Students who have obtained a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or who have been out of high school for one year or more will not be required to take the SAT (unless specifically requested to do so).
  • If submitting TOEFL or IELTS scores: We require a minimum score of 80 on the TOEFL iBT or 6.5 on the IELTS. Students are required to provide proof of English proficiency if English is not their native language.
  • Guidelines for all graduate international applicants:

  • All international graduate applicants are required to submit official college or university records to the Adelphi Office of University Admissions.
    • One set of records should be in your native language and one set should be translated into English.
    • Photocopies are not acceptable without an official stamp or seal from the school attended.
    • All academic records should be sent directly by the previous school attended. If a student wishes to submit transcripts on behalf of the previous institution, they must be official and bear the school’s stamp or seal.
  • four-year bachelor’s degree is required for admission to our graduate programs. If a student has completed a three-year bachelor’s degree, they should contact the Office of University Admissions for evaluation of their degree.
  • Official TOEFL/IELTS scores are required to show English language proficiency.
