This XVth European Symposium on Platelet and Granulocyte Immunobiology provides you with recent insights on several aspects of the broad range of immune-mediated platelet-and granulocyte-related disorders. The program is aimed to collect new knowledge and to combine efforts to improve the care to patients with rare platelet or granulocyte antibody-induced diseases. Also the rare side effect of transfusion: transfusion related lung injury, is focus of this meeting. We further aim to provide a platform to share the recent progress made in studies focusing on fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. Next to state-of-the-art lectures, abstracts will be presented, both by short orals or as poster presentation. Of course, there will be ample time to talk to your colleagues during the conference lunches and dinners!

The biennial European Symposium on Platelet and Granulocyte Immunobiology started in 1990. It was aimed to share the ongoing innovation of laboratory technologies on typing of platelet and granulocyte antigens and detection of allo-and autoantibodies targeting these antigens. Sharing rarely available reagents among laboratories and learning from each other’s performance has fasten the introduction of new technologies. The open atmosphere of the symposia has always served to welcome new scientists, clinicians and laboratory specialists to build new collaborations and to further advance this part of the field of transfusion medicine.

We do hope to meet you all, the forthcoming spring, April 2018, in Ede!
