The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest professional association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual. The Senior Research Associate will assist the Vice President during the critical developmental phase for an AMA-convened collaborative of leading bioethics centers. Responsible for supporting journal-based CME development and motivating outreach efforts for the AMA Journal of Ethics® and providing research/analyses on topics under review by the Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs. The Senior Research Associate will create presentations and support department projects.


• Master’s Degree required in a bioethics-related field, with a good track record of first authored peer-reviewed publications in ethics.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience of social science, healthcare, or relevant research experience in academic, government, corporate or non-profit setting preferred.
• Significant experience working on collaborative projects that involve internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills and attention to detail
• Exceptional writing and analytical skills. Experience in the following preferred: ability to conceptualize and synthesize literature, offer key insights, data mining, business intelligence and organizing and translating data.
• Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a creative hands-on orientation. Must have proven ability to present clear and cogent arguments.
• Demonstrated ability to balance work on multiple short-term projects requiring rapid responses with work on long-term projects.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a team environment as well as be a strong individual contributor.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Adobe Pro preferred.
• Flexible to work extended hours including weekends. Some travel might be required.
