We hereby extend a cordial invitation to submit a proposal to the third International Conference on Language Education and Testing, addressing a wide range of topics relating to affective factors in language education.

Language Education and Emotions, this year's conference, will bring together scholars from all over the world to share their interest in the role and place of emotions in language learning and teaching. Research into the influence of emotions in language education is not new, but is continuously evolving. The conference will provide an overview of the scientific status quo in the field of Language Education and Emotions. Secondly, it will identify the challenges our research is confronted with. This will allow us to build a research agenda for the future.

Language Education and Emotions is centering on:

  1. Emotions  and the Language Learner: e.g. foreign language anxiety, self-esteem, motivation, willingness to communicate, inhibition, autonomy

  2. Emotions and the Language Teacher: e.g. self-efficacy, motivation, empathy

  3. Emotions and the Teaching and Learning Process: e.g. language teaching methods, approaches in language teaching, learning materials/ tools, CALL, evaluation

Your submission (in English) should consist of a one page abstract (500 words, without references). Please use the template provided.
You will be notified of the Scientific Program Committee’s decision one month after the submission of your abstract and at the latest by August 1st 2018.

Your paper must address one (or several) of the main topics of the conference:

  • Emotions and the Language Learner (i.e. motivation, FLA, willingness to communicate, autonomy);
  • Emotions and the Language Teacher (i.e. self-efficacy, motivation, empathy);
  • Emotions and the Teaching and Learning Process (i.e. language teaching methods, tools, evaluation).

Elements to be included in the abstract:

  • Rationale
  • Theoretical framework
  • Research design
  • Results (if possible)
  • Conclusion
  • Discussion

Please indicate the presentation type you prefer:

  • Paper presentation: 20' presentation, followed by 5' for questions and discussion
  • Poster presentation: the conference schedule reserves a specific session (approximately 1 hour) dedicated to poster presentations allowing all to attend

As the objective of the conference is not only to provide an overview of the scientific status quo in the field of Language Education and Emotions but also to identify challenges the research into this field is confronted with, please tell us about your opinion on these challenges.
