Despite an increasing body of research on multilingual development (Amaro et
al. 2015, Bardel & Falk 2012, Bonnet & Siemund 2018, Cenoz 2013, Gogolin et
al. 2017, Hermas 2014, Hopp 2018, Rothman 2015, Slobakova 2017, Westergaard et
al. 2017, Hammarberg 2001) and World Englishes (Bao 2015, Biewer 2011, Bolton
2017, Buschfeld 2011, Fuchs 2016, Gilquin & Granger 2011, Gut et al. 2015,
Huber et al. 2014, Lim & Gisborne 2009, Mair 2013, Perez 2016, Schneider et
al. 2004, Schreier et al. 2010, Schweinberger 2014, Siemund 2013), these
research areas remain topical in current linguistic debates. The third edition
of the conference Current Trends in Linguistics with the theme ''Multilingual
Development and World Englishes'' will take place from March 28 to 29, 2019 at
the University of Hamburg. The organizing committee cordially invites you to
submit papers and posters that fit the theme of the conference. The aim of the
gathering is to bring together the work of well-known researchers (internal
and external) with that of PhD and graduate students. We wish to create an
inspiring atmosphere with room for fruitful discussions, valuable critique and
stimulating conversations among senior scholars and junior researchers.

Call for Papers:
We seek high-quality research in all areas of Multilingual Development and
World Englishes for presentation at the Current Trends in Linguistics 2019
conference (CuTLi 2019), to take place on March 28-29, 2019 and to be hosted
by the Department of English Linguistics, University of Hamburg at the
Warburg-Haus, Hamburg, Germany. This is the third installment of the CuTLi
conferences, following the successful meetings in 2017
(https://cutli2017.wordpress.com) and 2018 (https://cutli2018.wordpress.com).
The 2019 conference (http://cutli2019.wordpress.com (available from October
2018)) features the theme ''Multilingual Development and World Englishes'' and
we are particularly interested in research submissions that address the
We invite abstracts for either oral presentations (20 minutes, followed by 10
minutes of discussion) or poster presentations. Abstracts must be anonymous,
so please be sure to eliminate any identifying information and metadata from
the document. Length is limited to a maximum of 500 words (excluding
references). Abstracts must be submitted in both word doc. & pdf file formats.
Participants should include the following information on a separate sheet of
paper: Author name(s), affiliation(s), title of abstract, and whether the talk
is a paper or poster submission. The poster session of CuTLi 2019 is
specially designed for young researchers at B.A., M.A., and PhD levels.
Posters will remain on display throughout the conference. This is a great
opportunity for young researchers to present their (future) B.A., M.A. thesis
or PhD project ideas and receive valuable feedback. The maximum size of the
poster is A0, and we are happy to announce that CuTLi 2019 will print all
posters for poster presenters.
