Merseburg University of Applied Sciences is looking to appoint to the following Chair within the Department of Engineering and Natural Sciences as soon as possible:

Operating Systems and Process Data Processing (W 2)

The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge of and experience in the fields of operating systems, especially parallel processing and computer and multi-core architecture as well as process data processing, and will be able to cover the discipline in a practically focused way. Further requirements are a relevant academic degree and a doctorate in a subject connected to the discipline.

Although most of the teaching will be for the Applied Computer Science course, the successful applicant will also teach other Engineering Sciences courses. Interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and a keenness to meet and interact with students and external partners are essential. With his/her research, the successful applicant will make additional contributions through his/her in-depth knowledge of one of the specialist disciplines listed above and will enhance the department’s profile as a centre of research, e.g. in the area of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). Experience relating to the latest Internet technologies is desirable.

With teaching becoming increasingly international, courses are also to be offered in English.

The successful candidate will be expected to sit on the university’s administrative bodies and to play an active role in designing degree courses.

The appointment regulations laid down in Section 35 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) shall apply.

The salary shall be based on the legal and budgetary requirements. Exceptional performance may be recognised with performance-related bonuses in addition to the basic salary.
