The Sixteenth International Pituitary Congress will present an exciting group of member and guest international experts in pituitary problems. It will include distinguished clinicians and clinical researchers, fellows in training, and experts in basic science. As usual, we will present cutting edge in-depth topics that will permit each attendee to become familiar with the latest trends in pituitary endocrinology. The format of the meeting is intended to facilitate maximum interaction and free exchange of ideas among the participants and speakers. The Congress is designed to further the knowledge of clinicians and scientists specializing in the pituitary. Single session symposia, Meet-the-Professor lunch sessions, Hot Topics and poster sessions will address a broad range of pituitary research and clinical issues. The focus of the Congress is on current concepts, future strategies, and options for the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of pituitary diseases.
The 16th International Pituitary Congress will include a first-time joint session of Congress attendees, Endocrine Nurses, and Acromegaly patients. This joint session will feature Peter Stein, from the FDA, speaking about the approval of drugs for orphan diseases. The session will also include a panel discussion between physicians, nurses, and patient support groups.
The 2017 Pituitary Congress introduced our first Early Career Investigator’s round-table discussion. The session provided an opportunity for Early Career Investigators to meet and discuss projects with possible mentors and established clinical and preclinical investigators. Due to the positive response to this round-table discussion by attendees, we have expanded the session at the 16th International Pituitary Congress. We have invited a panel of 5-6 international pituitary experts to deliver short presentations on developing a pituitary center of excellence, basic and clinical research opportunities, electronic and tumor data banks, clinical trials, NIH grants, manuscript preparation, etc. Early Career Investigator’s Development Committee members will also provide mentoring during poster sessions to those who self-identify in the early career stage. The Congress precedes the ENDO 2019 Meeting; beginning the evening of Wednesday, March 20, 2019 and ending the afternoon of Friday, March 22, 2019.
