The SAALT/SALALS conference takes place from 30 June to 04 July, 2019, at the University of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.
The language-institution-ecology morning will be organised by William Kelleher (william.kelleher AT up.ac.za) and can host four papers. The morning will be introduced with a keynote address given by Béatrice Fraenkel (EHESS, School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, chair
Anthropology of Writing, Paris). The emphasis will be on the materiality of language, practices, and the growing need to involve the humanities in the fight against climate change. In fact, this call is designed for those papers that explore the links between sociolinguistic, or applied linguistics, materiality and climate change/ecology.
