Post-doctoral Fellowship in Animal Epigenetics and Drug Action

Country: Brazil;

City: São Paulo

Vacancy added: 23.05.2019

Employer: São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP)

Resumes due: 18.06.2019

The Laboratory of Chromatin and Biopolymers of the Institute of Biology at the University of Campinas opens one Post-Doctoral scholarship position for full-time activity in the above-cited project that is a portion of a Thematic Project supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

The studies currently involved in this Thematic Project aim to detect several metabolic pathways resulting from the action of valproic acid/sodium valproate (VPA) in different cell models. VPA is an anticonvulsive drug and a well-known histone deacetylase inhibitor and chromatin remodeling inducer. In cells of Triatoma infestans, VPA-induced heterochromatin remodeling occurs through a mechanism not fully understood, thus justifying its investigation in depth. The methodology proposed for this study will comprise immunoassays, 3-D images obtained using confocal microscopy, laser microdissection and biochemical analyses.

You can read the research project in its entirety at
