Country: Belgium;

City: Leuven

Vacancy added: 19.06.2019

Employer: KU Leuven

Resumes due: 31.08.2019

The Lab for Nanobiology is a relatively young but dynamic research group. We offer an interdisciplinary environment including research at the doctoral and postdoctoral level, with backgrounds in (bio-) chemistry, physics, and engineering. Located at the Department of Chemistry at the KU Leuven, the lab possesses and has access to extensive imaging instruments, molecular biology facilities, and cell culturing facilities. The lab is well-supported by external and internal funding, including an ERC starting grant in which this work is situated.

Your project will focus on the high-resolution imaging of cellular signaling, taking advantage of advanced fluorescence microscopy and genetically-encoded biosensors. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and optimize high-resolution imaging of genetically-encoded biosensors, expressed in model cell lines, using custom imaging hardware and analysis.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with a background in biosensor imaging, probe development, and/or advanced fluorescence imaging, or who can be reasonably expected to learn these in a short time. The project is fairly technical in nature, so a quantitative background (physical chemistry, (bio-) physics, engineering, or similar through experience) is a plus.

A postdoctoral position for up to three years in an interdisciplinary and stimulating research group. The proposed starting date is flexible and can be moved forward or postponed to accommodate ongoing engagements by the candidate.
