The process of globalization has meant living in a world dominated by the ideology of neoliberalism or late capitalism. The implications of this process for creative work are manifold and inescapable in the late twentieth century and these first decades of the twenty-first. Within this process, Spanish-language poetry has sought new forms of representation to resist and challenge the globalizing and homogenizing practices of the very late capitalism that has provided poets with new spaces and new modes of expression. The present panel seeks to elucidate new poetic practices that reformulate the poetic canon and the spaces in which poetry can flourish in the twenty-first century. New forms must be understood within the neoliberal globalized world that has eroded traditional poetic practices. Some of these new forms, which originate in and simultaneously resist late capitalism, include: digital poetry, found poetry, poetry as performance, and poetry as artifact.
