Second ASCE India Conference on “Challenges of Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Emerging Economies (CRSIDE 2020)” will be held at Kolkata during March 02-04, 2020. The sub-themes of the international conference are smart infrastructure planning, innovative materials and structural design and sustainable management of water and environment systems. The conference will be organized under the overall aegis of American Society of Civil Engineers, USA.

Infrastructure development serves as a foundation for economic growth. Economic growth of any country critically depends on the conditions of transport, water, energy and information infrastructure. For examples, efficient freight transport systems are a prerequisite for achieving trade and economic integration as well as for attracting investment, developing enterprise and building productive capacity. A secured water supply system is a central driver of sustainable growth and poverty mitigation. Low-carbon energy systems contribute to purified air. Application of recent communication technologies in infrastructure development also helps in economic productivity. For better economic growth, technological innovations play an important role.

Any developmental activity is challenged by environmental degradation. However, infrastructure development in resilient and sustainable manner should be the story of the future. This is among the 17 sustainable development goals established by the united nations for the year 2030. Building resilient and sustainable infrastructure helps to ensure delivery of development benefits over the long term. The resilient and sustainable infrastructure development and associated technological innovations depend on the economy of any country. This conference will focus on the technological challenges for resilient and sustainable infrastructure development activities in developing countries. Creating resilient, sustainable infrastructure require coordination among government and private sectors, academia, and planning agencies.

The conference is planned to create a platform for the engineering professionals, architects, environmental scientists, academicians, economist and students for sharing their professional and research experience through oral and poster presentation of the technical papers on various themes of resilient and sustainable infrastructure development.
