Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Lecture in the Extended BSc and BCom Programmes at the Mamelodi Campus;
  • Conduct research in Tertiary Mathematics Education that leads to publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals;
  • Supervise postgraduate students;
  • Participate in departmental and campus administration;
  • Participate in community engagement.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • MSc degree in Mathematics and / or Applied Mathematics, which allows for admission into the PhD Programme of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics;
  • Potential and interest to complete a PhD in Tertiary Mathematics Education and continue with research in this field;
  • Candidates who already have a PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Tertiary Mathematics Education, should demonstrate potential and interest in conducting research in Tertiary Mathematics Education;
  • Teaching experience in a tertiary environment.

 

Added advantages and preferences:

  • PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Tertiary Mathematics Education;
  • Research in Tertiary Mathematics Education evidenced by peer-reviewed publications;
  • Substantial teaching experience in a tertiary environment.

 

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
