The 9th International Workshop “Strong Microwaves and Terahertz Waves: Sources and Applications”

Country: Russian Federation

City: Nizhny Novgorod

Abstr. due: 30.04.2014

Dates: 24.07.14 — 30.07.14

Area Of Sciences: Physics and math; Technical sciences;

Address: 46 Ulyanov St., Nizhny Novgorod 603950 Russia

Organizing comittee e-mail:

Organizers: Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences; University of Nizhny Novgorod

The Workshop will consist of four strongly interrelated topical symposia:

  • Symposium S: High power microwave sources
  • Symposium H: Current drive and plasma heating by microwaves in nuclear fusion devices
  • Symposium T: Terahertz sources, diagnostics and nonlinear interactions
  • Symposium A: High power microwave applications (including accelerators, radars, gas discharges, materials processing, biomedical applications etc.)

This workshop is a continuation of the “Strong Microwaves in Plasmas” workshops held triennially since 1990. The adjusted title reflects gradual changes in the workshop contents towards a broader range of frequencies and applications.
The scope of the workshop covers a wide circle of research activities of both fundamental and applied importance. The workshop is highly interdisciplinary in nature; it opens ample opportunities for the interaction between the researchers working in high-power microwave electronics and plasma physics, with strong emphasis on the development of diverse applications.
The three-year cycle chosen for the workshop provides the participants with the possibility to accumulate significant results of their research.
