The  First International Congress of Eurasian Maritime History, hosted by  Pirî Reis University had
convened in Istanbul on November 5th-8th, 2012 with the participation of Turkish and international scholars.
The aim of the Istanbul conference was to promote research on Turkish maritime history.  The  International
Association of Maritime Studies (IAMS) was founded during the Istanbul congress by a group of participating
scholars.
The Second International Congress of Eurasian Maritime History will be jointly organized by IAMS and
the  Historical and Cultural Center Lichnost Peterburga,  in collaboration Pîrî  Reis  University  and Admiral
Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. We are pleased to inform you to contribute to the
Second International Congress of Eurasian Maritime History to be held in St. Petersburg in 23-26 July 2014.
The 2014 Congress will cover the maritime history of Russia at global level, including the Black Sea, the
Turkish Straits, the Aegean and the Mediterranean Seas, the Caspian Sea,  as well as North Atlantic, Baltic Sea,
the Arctic Ocean and the  Far East. Historical events  that took place under Ottoman and Russian dominance
until the end of the World War I, will also be under focus. 
Papers  on  topics related to the naval, technical and economic aspects of maritime history (see
Appendix) are warmly welcomed. Priority will be given to contributions based on newly explored historical
documents and unpublished research subjects.
You are kindly invited to submit both papers and/or poster presentations. The online registration and
the submission of abstracts are welcomed at http://iams2012.org/.   The deadline for submission of abstracts
(max 250 words) is 30th of April 2014. Notification of acceptance to the authors will be sent by the 30th of May
2014.
