About ten sessions will be organised around a specific delta or delta city. In these sessions the participants will, together with the session organisers and speakers, take a closer look into the challenges and solutions in these deltas. The issues can differ according to the specific circumstances of climate change and the response to that in the selected deltas. The focus of the sessions is on the policy response to climate change, adaptation options, strategies and financial arrangements for adaptation.
The sessions include the following deltas or delta countries:

  • Bangladesh
  • Colombia
  • Indonesia
  • Mediterranean / Venice
  • Mekong (Vietnam)
  • Mozambique
  • Myanmar
  • Nile (Egypt)

The sessions are organised by representatives of these regions including policy makers and the scientific community.

Round Table discussions will be held for government officials, the business community, policy makers and NGOs. The round tables are organised in close collaboration with international organisations.
A few selected people are invited around the table and will discuss issues of crucial importance to adaptation to climate change. The audience  will be actively involved in the debate. The round tables are:

  • Round Table on Financing adaptation, together with the Worldbank
  • Round Table on Community based adaptation, together with Red Cross, OXFAM, WWF
  • Round Table of Mayors on the role of cities

To inspire the participants of the conference side events will be organised, such as an international business challenge, a student competition, a climate change adaptation movie night, a photo contest and an art contest.
