MHMK Scholarship for Master's students

With the Scholarship, MHMK, Macromedia University for Media and Communication, seeks to help talented applicants for its Master’s programmes finance their studies, and thus to give them a chance to enter Germany’s leading media university.

The MHMK’s Scholarship is aimed at high-achieving, dedicated students and is awarded directly by the President of MHMK. The object is to support young people personally and academically and to foster the future innovators and leaders in the media industry.

The Scholarship is initially awarded for one academic year; the amount can be between 20% and 50% of the tuition fee. It can be extended annually.

“Our concern is not just to give the students professional qualifications, but also to qualify them with regard to their personal development.” (Professor Jürgen Faust, Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Research)

1. Prerequisites
  • Admission: admission to MHMK is subject to the rules set out in the Statutory order on the qualification for study at the universities of the Free State of Bavaria (Verordnung über die Qualifikation für ein Studium an den Hochschulen des Freistaates Bayern); (section 60 of the Bavarian Higher Education Act/ Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz) as amended from time to time. Evidence of previous education obtained outside Bavaria must be recognized as having equal value.
  • Good grade point average (at least 2.5) in the Bachelor’s degree and in the examination grades during the Master’s programme.
  • Willingness and motivation to participate in and organize student activities on campus, e.g. organizing events, starting up student initiatives, taking on administrative tasks and tutorials.
2. Application
  • Application form for the scholarship
  • Letter of motivation
  • Letter of recommendation (e.g. from a professor)
  • Curriculum vitae – signed personally
  • Further proofs of jobs, vocational education and social involvement if applicable

Please submit your completed and signed application form and supporting documents to the Student Advisory Service, indicating which M.A. programme you are applying for.

3. Selection

The scholarship is largely dependent on the final grade. Moreover, the award depends on the candidate’s social involvement or exceptional commitment and willingness to represent MHMK as a student ambassador, to organize events and to contribute to student initiatives.

An internal scholarships committee determines the recipients of the Scholarships and the level of the award. The scholarship is awarded as a full scholarship or part-time scholarship for 2 semesters.

4. Deadlines

The application deadline for a scholarship in the winter semester is the end of July; candidates receive notification of the decision by mid-August.
