Practical Matters

Please note that the Fellowship is a grant, not a salary, and is therefore not subject to Finnish taxation. Accordingly, Fellows are not staff members of the University of Helsinki and, consequently, are not entitled to University of Helsinki staff benefits, such as insurance and occupational health care. Because Fellows are not covered by the University’s insurance policy, they are expected to make arrangements
for their own health and medical insurance and to provide proof of a valid insurance policy when beginning their Fellowship term.

The Aleksanteri Institute will make reasonable efforts to assist successful applicants with practical arrangements and in finding accommodation. The Institute cannot, however, guarantee the desired accommodation.
