Duties and responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Chief, Monitoring and Data Analysis Section, International Data Centre Division (IDC), to:

  • Perform interactive analysis of radionuclide data as required, including the analysis of gamma and beta-gamma spectra from particulate and noble gas detection stations, and review the work of other analysts;
  • Contribute to and actively participate in the training, coaching and certification of radionuclide analysts;
  • Organize, optimize and coordinate schedules for analysts’ tasks to ensure efficient and timely production of reviewed IDC products in the radionuclide technologies;
  • Recommend and implement plans to enhance procedures, rules and guidelines for analysts’ tasks and for analysts’ certification;
  • Support the trainees from States Signatories in coordination with the Capacity Building Section of the IDC;
  • Support the testing and evaluation of the IDC applications software in coordination with the Scientific Applications Section of the IDC;
  • Interact as necessary with other sections and units in order to ensure smooth implementation of the operational tasks;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. University degree in nuclear science with strong background in gamma spectroscopy and radiation detection methods, or relevant experience in radionuclide data analysis;
  2. At least five years relevant working experience with radionuclide spectra analysis, air monitoring, detection equipment, and environmental influences on radionuclide monitoring. A basic knowledge of LINUX operating systems and SQL;
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Working knowledge of one of the other official languages of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission is an asset.
