This course endeavors to provide a focused update on cardiac arrhythmia care for your patients. Cardiac arrhythmias may indicate a serious medical problem that signals heart disease, an imminent stroke, or sudden cardiac death. A wide variety of arrhythmias are amenable to excellent treatment outcomes when physicians and nurses are well informed. AUDIENCE This conference is ideal for internal medicine, family medicine, and intensive care physicians, pediatricians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES Following completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: Recognize ECG differences between supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias. Describe new pacing techniques for heart failure. Explain changes in treatment for post-surgery arrhythmias. Identify novel anticoagulants. Explain atrial fibrillation and its treatment.
