Nowadays, research in nanoparticles is a very dynamic field that ranges across many areas of science, from physics to chemistry and medicine, but one of the clearest examples of the role of nanoscale in the properties of a material is the catalytic activity of nanoparticles. This is due mainly to their unique optical, electronic, and magnetic properties radically different from the properties observed in the bulk state. The use of particles with a well-defined dispersion makes it possible to relate various physicochemical properties (optical, magnetic, electronic, catalytic, and others) to the size and morphology of the particles in a more quantifiable way. Many methods are currently used to measure particle size and properties, but each technique has advantages and disadvantages and for this reason only a combination of several of these can give well-defined and reliable results.

For this reason, a special issue collecting all the advances in the field is of great importance to help collaboration and sharing of new ideas in a consistent way. To promote communication between researchers of nanoparticles about actual methods and future prospects, we invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the structural, physical, and chemical properties of nanoparticles for catalysis.

    Nanoparticle synthesis
    Nanoparticle size distribution, structure, and shape
    Catalytic properties of nanoparticles
    Advanced methods and multitechnique approaches for nanoparticles analysis
    The latest discoveries and developments of experimental and analytical methods
