German-Ukrainian Youth Exchange "If I Were in Your Shoes"

The local branches of AEGEE (European Youth Forum) AEGEE-Berlin and AEGEE-Kyiv are pleased to announce an open call for participants to take part in the German-Ukrainian Youth Exchange "If I Were in Your Shoes".

German-Ukrainian Youth Exchange "If I Were in Your Shoes" is about spreading awareness about youth engagement in democratic transformations improving the situation in Europe and in all its parts. The aim of the project is to put young people from one country into the shoes of the youth from the other country by showing them the challenges their counterparts encounter and giving them a chance to practically participate in solving those problems. The project provides an opportunity to find the common vision on democracy and democratic values, inform each other about existing problems, learn from both countries experience, and extract it by implementing locally. We want to equip participants with methods and approaches of direct participation in democratic shifts, with the goal of allowing them,to found their own local projects and initiatives.

Young people aged 18-25 from Ukraine and Germany;
Individuals with an interest and/or experience in active citizenship, civil society development, youth activism, participatory democracy, youth empowerment and/or engagement;

Ability to communicate in English;
Ability to participate for the entire duration of the exchange (21/10-27/10 – Ukrainian part, 08/12-12/12 – German part).

Participation fee is 20 EUR
The program will cover expenses on travel, accommodation, local transportation, meals, and material resources for the development and presentation of results. Travel costs reimbursement will be provided on spot.

The following expenses will explicitly not be covered: any insurance during your stay in Ukraine/Germany, the cost of your passport and visa costs for Non-EU participants.
Any expenses outside of the program’s planned activities, that the participant chooses in his or her free time are not covered.
The project is financed by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and the Robert Bosch Foundation within the Program "Meet up! German-Ukrainian Youth Encounters” of the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future”
