The Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX) - Faculty of Science of Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic seeks a postdoctoral associate to join an academic research team led by Dr. Zdenek Spacil researching on the project:

Transformative stem cell-based model of Alzheimer’s disease and advanced analytics to study the role of membrane lipids in the pathogenesis

The postdoctoral associate will design and execute experiments to determine levels of membrane lipids and proteins primarily involved in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis and apply them to in vitro model based on cerebral organoids derived from human embryonic stem cells as well as to clinical samples.


  • A Ph.D. degree received  within the last 5 years in chemistry, biochemistry,  biological sciences or related multidisciplinary field
  • Working experience in abroad (outside the territory of the Czech Republic) in the last three years is an advantage
  • have a publishing record – in the last three years at least two publication outputs (as the first author, the corresponding/reprint author, the individual author stated in the article)
  • interest and motivation to tackle scientific challenges, independent planning of experiments to explore given hypotheses, technical skills to conduct experimental work
  • experience with mass spectrometry-based techniques and modern liquid chromatography concepts, set-up, operation, and maintenance
  • programming skills and experience with advanced data processing and bioinformatics are an advantage
  • ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop and execute detailed technical protocols; good written and oral communication skills; excellent documentation skills; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
