Visible Evidence, the annual scholarly conference on documentary and nonfiction film, media, culture and politics is coming back to Los Angeles.
Hosted by University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, the conference will investigate how media scholars, critics, activists, teachers, filmmakers, film programmers, and curators are rethinking the study and practice of documentary and nonfiction media from a diverse range of methodologies and areas of expertise.
Drawing inspiration from Los Angeles, a global city of multitudinousand varied cultures, VE XXVI particularly encourages scholars to examine the ways in which the media of the Pacific Rim have shaped documentary and nonfiction media studies.
Submissions exploring any topic related to the study of documentary media are welcome. We welcome papers that draw from a wide variety of critical lenses, as well as focus on any case study or medium.
Visible Evidence XXVI will feature a range of panels, workshops, plenary sessions, screenings, and special events revolving around nonfiction media and its practices, histories, and theories.
