Post-doctoral researcher / research associate in UX design (M/F)

The post-doctoral researcher will be affiliated to the Human‐Computer Interaction (HCI) research group within the Institute of Cognitive Science and Assessment (COSA). The successful candidate will lead scientific research in the field of user experience (UX) design and apply UX design and evaluation methods to support the group’s research projects across various fields as e.g., socio-technical security, computer-based assessment and digital collaborative learning. The researcher will further liaise with relevant stakeholders and users, and take responsibility for official deliverables / reports. He / she will furthermore proactively support strategic funding and partnership activities, both within traditional academic networks and outside (e.g. private sector or policy makers). The researcher will have access to all available resources including a state-of-the art user laboratory.

Your Role

Contribute to existing projects in strategic fields as e.g., socio-technical security, computer-based assessment and digital collaborative learning;

Propose experimental designs and data collections in general in UX research; oversee the operations;

Analyze and interpret data, and prepare reports / sign off reports;

In collaboration with other researchers, engage in the dissemination of research results through shared peer-reviewed publications, conference participation, workshop organization, etc.;

Contribute to project acquisition, collaboration and network extension, explicitly including private sector or other non-academic institutions;

Support to supervising students, trainees and junior staff;

Liaise and coordinate with users and stakeholders from various backgrounds, requiring strong social skills;

Support the group’s synergistic activities such as brainstorming days, research colloquia and trainings.

Your Profile

PhD in a field tightly related to: UX design, HCI, interaction design, or similar. A background in psychology or social sciences is preferred; a design or computer science profile might however also fit.

A significant post-doctoral and/or industrial research experience is an asset.

Capable of independent research with a track record in research dissemination.

Prior teaching and supervision experience.

Excellent command of UX research and design methods.

Excellent social and communication skills for working in a highly collaborative environment, for oral and written applications; presentation and argumentation skills; team player skills; ability to adapt to the contexts and hierarchical / strategical levels of different stakeholders.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to efficiently and timely interact with and report to various stakeholders.

Ability to proceed autonomously and take responsibility.

Excellent oral and written command in English; any additional relevant language being an asset (French, German, Luxembourgish).
