Come join a new lab at Georgetown University exploring links between cancer and heart disease!
Dr. Nanette Bishopric, an expert in oxidative stress and its impact on myocardial celll life and death decisions, is starting a new laboratory dedicated to understanding how stress-related factors remodel transcription to worsen outcomes in both breast cancer and heart failure. Dr. Bishopric’s lab is offering a funded postdoctoral position through the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Dept. of Oncology, with specific emphases on acetyltransferases, microRNA dysregulation and ectopic ATP synthase activity as key modulators of breast cancer metastasis, and the impact of novel cancer therapies on cardiac health.
A talented postdoctoral recruit will be able to pursue and expand these projects, using mouse models, clinical specimens, bioinformatics and functional studies of cancer metabolism. Research efforts will be further supported by the Department of Comparative Medicine, which provides state-of-the-art facilities for studies involving immunocompetent and immunocompromised animals, animal breeding and genotyping, and is equipped with in vivo imaging capabilities to non-invasively monitor disease progression and metastasis.
Applicants with experience in murine models of cancer metastasis, gene editing, immunohistochemistry, bioinformatics, and molecular signalling will be particularly competitive. Individuals with experience related to drug development and toxicology are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, strong teamwork, and independent work habits. Applicants will be expected to multitask and solve problems as part of a dynamic lab group.
The current funded position requires U.S. citizenship (or green card).

Interested in applying? please send a cover letter, resume, and names of references to Prof. Nanette H. Bishopric at nhb20@georgetown.edu.
