The Institute for European Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology is looking for an

University Assistant with doctorate

(40 hours a week; fixed-term employment until 30.9.2025; position to be filled as of October 1st 2019 )

Your duties

  • Participation in research tasks
  • Collaboration on research projects
  • Participation in organisational and administrative tasks, and evaluation measures
  • Providing assistance and supervision to students
  • Independent research activities (possibility of habilitation research)
  • Independent teaching and conducting of examinations
  • Independent publication and lecturing activities, attendance of conferences
  • Participation in the profiling of the institute

Your profile

  • PhD in European ethnology, cultural anthropology, or comparable discipline
  • Focus of research in at least one of the following research fields: Religiosity, history of science, work culture(s)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to scientific work on a high level, successful publication activities
  • Enthusiasm for research and teaching
  • Teaching experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to work in a team
  • Ability to conceptual work
  • Experiences in project management, editorial work and conference organisation are desirable

Our offer


Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1

Minimum salary

The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 3803.90 gross/month. This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
