The Western Regional Conference on Faith and History will hold its biennial meeting on October 11-12, 2019 at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA. The theme of this conference, “Boundaries and Beyond,” relates to the unique geographic location of the western region, while enabling the exploration of historical events and themes that speak to perceived social, cultural, and spiritual boundaries. For example, 2019 marks milestone anniversaries that speak to idea of boundaries and beyond: Cortes’ landing in Mexico, the completion of the trans-continental railroad, the Treaty of Versailles and establishment of the League of Nations, the Apollo moon landing, and the collapse of the Berlin wall to name only a few.
The program committee seeks papers that address the concept of boundaries from any field of the historical discipline. While priority may be given to papers related to this year’s conference theme, the committee welcomes proposals on any topic. Interested scholars and graduate students are encouraged to submit relevant paper proposals. The conference this year will accommodate a limited number of undergraduate papers as well. The deadline for paper and panel proposals is June 1, 2019. Proposals should be 1-2 pages, double-spaced and submitted to Brad Hale at firstname.lastname@example.org.
