We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Computational Scientist with excellent computational and organisational skills to join the groups led by Professors Hughes and Higgs.

The post is part of the NIH funded VISION (ValIdated Systematic IntegratiON of epigenomic data) project which aims to develop methods to understand the mechanisms of gene regulation during normal and pathological tissue development. As the acquisition of genomics data is no longer restricted this project addresses the three main downstream challenges: (i) integration of epigenetic data in terms that are accessible and understandable to a broad community of researchers, (ii) build validated quantitative models explaining how the dynamics of gene expression relates to epigenetic features, and (iii) translate information effectively from mouse models to potential applications in human health. As part of that project you will develop pipelines, novel approaches and tools to extract meaningful signals from human and mouse erythroid genomics data. Hold a PhD or MSc degree in a biological discipline and a strong demonstrable background in mathematics. Experience in the analysis, integration and visualisation of genomics data with the ability to code in Python 3 is essential. You will also have demonstrable practical experience in using Machine Learning libraries to develop unsupervised and supervised learning pipelines using Deep Neural Network based architectures.

This position is available fixed-term, funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) until 31 May 2020.
