The School of Sociology and Social Policy (SSP) is a vibrant, diverse and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary unit covering criminology, public policy, social policy, social work and sociology. Cutting across these disciplinary boundaries is a shared commitment to making a difference in a world of global inter-connections and multiple inequalities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our sociology team. The successful applicant will make a significant contribution to teaching in sociology, including the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules on human rights and provision of teaching on research methods. Ability to teach the sociology of the body is also sought. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the quality of educational programmes through maintaining high standards of teaching, and will contribute generally to the development of teaching, teaching methods and assessment in sociology.

We welcome applications from recent PhD graduates and from those close to award, but applicants must have relevant teaching experience.

This is a part-time post (0.8FTE, 29hours per week) available as a fixed term contract until 31st July 2020. Due to the specialist nature of aspects of the role, it may be that we need to make more than one appointment on contracts of different lengths. This will be discussed with individual candidates at interview.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to aimie.purser@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

Our University has always been a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community. We warmly welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs - indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We welcome applications from UK, Europe and from across the globe. For more information on the support we offer our international colleagues, visit; https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/jobs/applyi...
