Research Fellow in Electrochemistry

Страна: Великобритания;

Дедлайн: 13.11.2019

You will join our team in electrochemistry at the University of Southampton funded by the EPSRC programme grant ADEPT Advanced Devices ( ). The programme will use electrodeposition to structure semiconductors for device applications including thermoelectrics, phase change memory and IR sensors. You will join a team of scientists and will contribute to the development and enhanced understanding of electrodeposition processes of p-block compound semiconductors and alloys from non-aqueous solvents (including supercritical fluids) for device fabrication.

The programme is led by Prof. P. Bartlett, with further research teams in Chemistry (G. Reid, A. Hector), Physics (D. Smith) and Electronics (K. de Groot) at Southampton and at the Universities of Nottingham (M. George) and Warwick (R. Beanland) are also highly active members of the programme.

You will have a PhD* in electrochemistry or equivalent professional qualification and a first degree in Chemistry, plus strong background and experience in practical electrochemistry. Strong communications skills, with a proven ability to work as part of a team, are essential. Particularly beneficial would be experience in one or more areas of non-aqueous electrochemistry, electrodeposition, materials characterisation, electrochemical automation and instrumentation.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Prof. Phil Bartlett ( ).

This is a fixed term appointment until 19th July 2021 due to funding restrictions, and is available to start immediately.

Equality, diversity and Inclusion is central to the ethos in Chemistry. In recognition of our continued commitment to improving equality for women in science we were awarded an Athena SWAN Silver award in 2014 and a second Silver award in 2017. Chemistry gives full consideration to applicants that wish to work flexibly including part-time and due consideration will be given to applicants who have taken a career break. The University has a generous maternity policy*, onsite childcare facilities For further information please visit
