The UCL Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering is a multidisciplinary department with a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research.
The Research Fellow in Multi-hazard Resilience Engineering will play a leading role in the 'Multi-Hazard Urban Disaster Risk Transitions Hub', which has recently been funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) of UKRI. The Research Fellow will focus on the development of Multi-hazard Physical Vulnerability and Resilience of Transport Infrastructure and new housing developments, with reference to the testbeds of Istanbul metropolitan area and contributing to other aspects of this project where required.
The appointment is for a fixed term of 18 months in the first instance and will run from 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021.

Key Requirements
The candidate should hold a PhD degree in Earthquake Engineering, or relevant subject area, and have experience in Performance-based Earthquake Engineering (PBEE) assessment and design. Knowledge in bridge engineering, and of either Network Analysis or Probability and Statistics are essential. Programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python), and a track record in publishing high-quality research would be an advantage.
