The Research Associate/Fellow will design, develop and execute synthetic methods for the construction of novel classes of organic compounds that modulate the agr systems in Staphylococcus aureus and other Gram-positive pathogens. The successful candidate will use a platform of modern synthetic chemistry, including polymer-supported, microwave-assisted and flow chemistry to construct structurally complex chiral heterocycles and macrocyclic peptides. The research fellow will also contribute to the design and development of chemical reagents for biochemical studies, as well as performing microbiological and antivirulence assays.

Candidates should have, or be close to completion of, a PhD in medicinal chemistry or chemical biology, together with a keen interest in staphylococcal pathogenicity and quorum sensing. 

This full-time (36.25 hours per week) post is fixed-term until 31 December 2020.
