We are seeking a scholar with demonstrated research expertise in the History of the Late Ottoman Empire (19th-early 20th century) who will contribute to our program in Modern Middle Eastern Studies. Knowledge of Ottoman and Modern Turkish is expected; other languages of the Ottoman Empire would be an asset.

A demonstrated commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research and teaching, involving research opportunities for students, is strongly desired. Teaching responsibilities will be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in History and/or Middle Eastern Studies or a closely related field, by the time of appointment and have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and research commensurate with the rank of assistant professor. Evidence of excellence in research will be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, as well as strong endorsements from referees of high standing. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
