The University of Louisville is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public History and Public Humanities to begin August 2021. Preference will be given to candidates whose research field is the experience of minority or marginalized communities in the United States. We seek a candidate whose interdisciplinary research and professional practice bridges history with adjacent humanities disciplines and reaches beyond traditional academic audiences. This position will be a joint appointment in the Departments of History and Comparative Humanities. Candidates will teach primarily upper division and graduate courses in public history/humanities and will also teach courses in the Cardinal Core program and in their research specialization. After two years, this hire will become the program director for the MA tracks in Public History and Public Humanities. Community outreach and engagement will be part of this directorship.  Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand by August 1, 2021.

The University of Louisville requires all candidates to apply online at  Job ID # 40431. The application will ask candidates to upload a single document including a CV, a letter of application, and the names and contact information of three referees. In the letter of application, candidates should describe their training and experience in public history/public humanities, as well as how they will contribute to the university’s mission to promote diversity and become a premier anti-racist institution.
