The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of projects on early social cognitive development with infants and young children, employing a variety of research methods including neuroimaging (EEG, fNIRS) and behavioural studies (e.g. eye tracking).

Primary responsibilities for this position will include (1) coordinating participant recruitment for the lab, (2) testing infants and young children in various research techniques, both in the lab and in preschools, (3) development of experiments (e.g. stimulus construction), (4) data analysis and data coding for different projects in the lab and (5) setting up and maintaining operations of the lab through general administrative duties.

Essential qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • A demonstrated interest in early cognitive development
  • An excellent rapport with babies, young children and their parents
  • Experience with running EEG, fNIRS or eye-tracking with infants and young children

  • Being able to show initiative and be motivated to work independently when necessary
  • An excellent standard of spoken and written Danish and English
  • The ability to get on with and collaborate with different kinds of people

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience carrying out experimental studies with young children
  • Prior knowledge of the field of Theory of Mind research
  • Experience of statistical software (e.g. R, SPSS)
  • Experience with computer programming (e.g. Matlab)

Job description
The successful candidate will support our ERC-funded project “DEVOMIND: How do infants mentalize? Bringing a neuroimaging approach to the puzzle of early mindreading”. The project is aimed at trying to understand how young infants are succeeding on nonverbal Theory of Mind paradigms, despite their limited capacity for inhibitory control and self-awareness. The successful candidate will provide research assistance to all projects being undertaken in the lab.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the lab, and coordinating infant testing. They will take the lead in testing infants and young children both in the lab and in preschools or public settings, and will assist with data coding and analysis.

As part of the project, international workshops will be organised to foster discussion with others in the field, and the successful candidate will contribute to the organization of these workshops. The candidate will be expected to contribute to daily lab-life, including taking part in reading groups and collaborating with other members of the lab.
