How do I apply for the course(s)?

To apply for the course, you need to fill in the online application form below and ensure that we receive a reference from a professor or an employer. The deadline for receipt of the application form and the reference is Thursday 10 April 2014.

The reference must be sent to the Academy - by you or by the referee - by email or by post before 10 April 2014. The email address is academy@eui.eu. The postal address is given below. Please do not send any additional documents and do not post the application form.

The Academy staff will let you know whether you have been offered a place as soon as possible after the deadline. If you have not heard from us by 10 May, please get in touch.

Who can apply?

These courses are for advanced students of law or related fields, including lawyers, specialists, practitioners, professors, researchers and students.

Applicants should hold at least a 3-year law degree or have completed at least 4 years of university studies, which must have included lectures on international law and/or EU Law. Undergraduates may apply but are accepted only in exceptional circumstances.

All nationalities may apply. Classes are in English so you need to have a strong command of English (level B2 of the Common European Framework Guidelines is recommended as a minimum requirement).

Enrolment numbers are limited and admission is based on merit.

How much do the courses cost?

The enrolment fee is €650 for one course and €950 for both courses. The fee covers tuition, reading materials, and lunches and coffee breaks at the university. Please note that the fee does not cover accommodation or travel costs.

If you are offered a place on the course, we will send you instructions for paying the fee. If you then have to cancel your enrolment before the course starts, 75% of the enrolment fee can be reimbursed.

Is there any financial assistance available?

A very limited number of fee waivers will be available for excellent candidates, to be awarded at the discretion of the Academy directors.

Applicants who need a fee waiver should send a short email to academy@eui.eu before Monday 1 April 2014 giving details of their financial circumstances and attaching any relevant supporting documents. You should indicate clearly in your email whether you would still wish to be considered for selection even if you are not offered a fee waiver. Requests received after this deadline cannot be considered.

If you apply to both courses, you cannot request a fee waiver. If you have already received a fee waiver in the past, you cannot request a second fee waiver.

There are no scholarships available for course participants. Even if you are awarded a fee waiver, you will have to cover your travel and accommodation expenses.
