Knowledge of aboriginal peoples is a significant factor influencing the achievement rate of aboriginal students in educational institutions. Teacher education has only recently begun to incorporate knowledge of aboriginal history, culture and pedagogies into its curriculum and has much work to do given the long and destructive history of the education system on aboriginal peoples.

Focus of the Conference
  • To provide a place for aboriginal and non-aboriginal educators, students and community organizations to engage with issues around teaching and learning that impact aboriginal students success
  • To promote dialogue and exchange of knowledge, experience and practice around teaching and learning in Post-Secondary Education
  • To serve as a forum to build sustainable networks that would support the success of aboriginal students in Post-Secondary Education
