Erasmus Mundus programme

The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education launched by the European Commission early 2004. The formal programme aims are to enhance quality in European higher education and promote intercultural understanding through co-operation with third-countries, i.e. in principle countries from outside the EU/EFTA zone. The programme is intended to strengthen European co-operation and international links in higher education by supporting high-quality European Master Courses, by enabling students and visiting scholars from around the world to engage in Master programmes at European universities, as well as by encouraging the outgoing mobility of European students and scholars towards third-countries.

The Erasmus Mundus Master's Courses

The Erasmus Mundus programme is aimed at identifying, recognising and supporting high-quality European Master Courses. These Erasmus Mundus (EM) Master Courses are expected to be integrated programmes offered by at least three higher education institutions in three different European countries. There is no formal maximum to the number of institutions involved in an EM programme. The minimum requirement with respect to EM students is that they take classes and earn credits in at least two of these institutions in two different European countries. Graduates will receive a double, multiple or joint diploma. EM Master Courses offer study grants for third-country graduate students and scholarships for non-European visiting professors.

The higher education institutions jointly offering an Erasmus Mundus Master Course are referred to as Erasmus Mundus consortium. Such an Erasmus Mundus consortium must have the following features:

Joint criteria for admission and examination:

Students must be able to apply to a single programme with common standards for admission, a common application procedure and a joint student selection process. Examinations passed at one institution of the consortium are recognised fully and automatically by the other institutions of the consortium.

Course integration:

The EM consortium delivers a jointly developed curriculum or the consortium member institutions fully recognize all courses which are developed and delivered separately, but make up a common standard course.

Mobility:

All EM students have to take classes in at least two of the institutions participating in the consortium.

Zaawansowana Spektroskopia w Chemii
Metodi spettroscopici avanzati in Chimica
Spectroscopie Avancée en Chimie
Fortgeschrittene Spektroskopie in Chemie
Advanced spectroscopy in Chemistry

Guaranteed award of a recognised multiple degree upon graduation:

The EM programme has to award a double degree as a minimum requirement. A double or multiple degree is defined as two or more national diplomas issued officially by two or more institutions involved in an integrated study programme. A joint degree is defined as a single diploma issued by at least two of the institutions offering an integrated study programme. The degrees are formally recognised in the countries where the degree-awarding institutions are located, and have the same formal status as national degrees.

Targetted Students:

Student Application for admission in the ASC programme is entitled for students holding a:

 Eurobachelor in Chemistry

or equivalent education in the field of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry and Physics. Students from all over the world are welcome to join the programme.

Admission criteria:

The selection procedure takes place within a  framework common to the five partners of the consortium. The partners select candidates on the basis of study results, a CV, a statement of purpose and two letters of recommendation. They may not discriminate between their own students, students of other universities of EU or non-EU countries.

Application, evaluation procedure

All applications are assessed by a centralized consortium commission. A weighting scheme is applied to the following selection criteria, assessed from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum), thus producing a weighted arithmetic mean:
 - academic records of previous studies (coefficient 6,threshold 4)
 - scientific background of undergraduate studies (coefficient 4, threshold 3)
 - ranking of Academic Institution where undergraduate studies were done (coefficient 2, threshold 2)
- motivation letter (coefficient 2, threshold 3)
- recommendation letters (coefficient 2, threshold 3)
- mastering of English language (coefficient 2, threshold 2)
- acquired practical experience (coefficient 1, threshold 2)
- Awards and grants (coefficient 1, threshold 1)
