Організатори: Australia New Zealand American Studies Association (ANZASA) Conference

ANZASA is pleased to announce its 2015 conference will be held in Melbourne, the site of the organisation’s first meeting in 1964. Monash University’s School of Philosophical, Historical and International Studies will host the event at the Caulfield campus, just a few suburbs out of the CBD and easily reached by train.

As always, the conference will provide a forum for the widest possible discussion of American Studies. Historically, ANZASA’s meetings have been exciting forums in which scholars explore the culture, history, and literature of the United States from beyond its borders. We warmly welcome presenters and participants in all disciplines, fields, and using all approaches and methodologies. In keeping with tradition, postgraduate/graduate students and early career academics are especially welcome.

The conference will commence with a half-day event involving postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers, the organisers, and the keynote speakers. The days will mix up keynote addresses, panels, roundtables, and sessions on teaching. On the Thursday evening there will be a dinner for more informal discussion and, perhaps, a rendition of the fabled ANZASA songbook.

We are delighted to have confirmed a diverse selection of outstanding keynote speakers:

  • Jennifer Nez Denetdale, Associate Professor of American Studies, University of New Mexico
  • Thomas Doherty, Professor of American Studies, and Chair of the Department of American Studies, Brandeis University
  • David Goodman, Professor of History, University of Melbourne
  • Matthew Pratt Guterl, Professor of Africana Studies and American Studies, and Chair of the American Studies Department, Brown University

We seek proposals for individual 20-minute papers, as well as for panels, roundtables, teaching sessions, and other formats for presentation. Please provide a title and abstract of no more than 250 words for each paper, and a short biography or one-page CV for each participant. If you have any questions in advance of submitting, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the organisers.
