The 32nd Conference on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society, will be held June 20-24, 2016 at the Sheraton Downtown Salt Lake City hotel, Salt Lake City, Utah. This conference is organized by the AMS Committee on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, and jointly held with the 22nd Symposium on Boundary Layer and Turbulence and the 3rd Conference on Atmospheric Biogeosciences, including a session honoring Bill Massman’s contribution to the atmospheric biogeosciences. Preliminary programs, registration, hotel, and general information will be posted on the AMS Web site by late January, 2016.

The theme for this conference is “Adaptation of forest, agriculture and urban landscapes to a changing climate”. While papers are solicited on all aspects of ecosystem-atmosphere interactions, a number of sub-themes and topical areas have been identified by the program committee focused on aspects of measurement, modeling, and climate change implications of surface/atmosphere/biosphere processes:

Sub-themes

Topics

Measuring and modeling terrestrial ecosystem responses to climate change

Upscaling flux measurements to regional, continental and global scale

Integrating land surface measurements into biogeochemical models

Climate controls of carbon, water, energy, and nutrient cycling from leaf to globe

Microbial controls of biogeochemical cycling

Nitrogen and methane cycles in a changing climate

Inland water biogeochemical and energy exchange and its regional and global implications

New theory, ideas and approaches in understanding ecosystem -atmosphere exchanges

The Committee on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) is proud to present awards recognizing 3 outstanding oral presentations and 3 outstanding poster presentations given by students at the 32nd Conference on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology. These awards recognize outstanding student contributions based on an evaluation of both the submitted written paper and corresponding oral or poster presentation. Students are asked at the time of the abstract submission if they want to be considered for such awards.  In addition, students who want to be considered for travel support will be asked to note this when submitting their abstract, and may be asked to submit a note of justification for funds. Students must be the first author on submissions and be presenting their own, original work.
